Introduction to Menno Zuidema

Menno Zuidema is engineer, who takes care of cost calculations and work preparation at Jongia Mixing Technology. He comes from Groningen (city) and now lives in Balk, Friesland. Menno is married and has two children. He holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, and has over 20 years of experience in the stainless-steal industry. He joined Jongia in May 2024. After spending 13 years at his previous job, seeking new opportunities; something that Jongia could give him. With his expertise on mechanical engineering, Jongia is a perfect fit.

Menno’s Role at Jongia

In his job as cost calculation engineer, Menno has an important role at Jongia. He looks at data-sheets and uses Excel to calculate key details about various client orders. This enhances preparing cost-calculations based upon raw materials, production hours as well as all machine-production activities and assembly activities. A typical day for Menno includes checking the schedule for prepared orders and calculating the needed information for production, such as components and raw material and attending the “kick-off” meetings which take place when orders are entered into Jongia’s production line.

Menno likes the open work culture at Jongia, where everyone is friendly and is willing to help each other. He says: “The Jongia team feels a bit like family.” During lunchbreaks, Menno enjoys taking a stroll outside and chatting with his colleagues.

Outside of Work

In his free time, Menno loves to ride on his motorcycle. For fun and to travel to the office, but only as the weather is nice. He also enjoys cycling, switching between his racing bike in summer to his mountain bike in winter. Menno has participated in bike touring events like the Amstel Gold Race (Limburg) and the Elfstedentocht (Friesland). Every Thursday he plays badminton, and on the weekend, he enjoys gardening. Menno likes to be active in the outside.

Advice for Newcomers

Menno has great advice for anyone thinking about joining Jongia. “Be open and don’t be afraid to ask questions.” He believes the friendly environment at Jongia Mixing Technology makes it easy to learn and fit in.
