Jongia is a leading supplier of high-quality agitators and mixers. Our products are used across various industries, such as food, biobased materials, chemicals, and petrochemicals, to blend multiple components into a homogeneous substance.
Digitalization and sustainability are rapidly transforming the market in which Jongia operates. Clients are posing increasingly complex and specialized questions. While process technologists traditionally relied on experience and intuition, Jongia is developing innovative mixing sensors to elevate the mixing process to the next level.
These sensors measure critical parameters, such as fluid behavior and viscosity, which are then used to optimize processes. This approach saves time, energy, raw materials, and costs while enhancing performance.
Research Project
During this project, you will apply machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms to detect anomalies and changes in the mixing process of an agitator. You will have access to an extensive dataset collected during experiments. This dataset consists of raw motor current data, supported by existing Python code for signal processing, using techniques such as Fourier transforms, wavelet analysis, and phase shift calculations.
Signal Processing Optimization: Analyze and optimize the signal processing methods. Investigate which settings, such as the frequency resolution of Fourier transforms or the parameters of wavelet analysis, extract the most valuable information from the data.
Model Development and Training: Develop and train ML and DL models, such as XGBoost or advanced deep learning architectures. You’ll learn to optimize hyperparameters and interpret the models’ workings.
Result Interpretation: Investigate which signals or features are most valuable for detecting changes in the mixing process. Tools like PCA, SHAP, or LIME will help provide insights.
Practical Application: Integrate the models and insights into Jongia’s existing processes, directly contributing to process optimization and monitoring.
